Too much sun? An observation on growing kale
When I planted kale ten weeks ago, I did an experiment.
I planted one kale in a mostly shady spot. The other kale got full sun.
Here is the difference today:
Full Sun
Withered, pale and yellow "rough" leaves; not much growth.
Part Sun
Lush, green "soft" leaves; good growth.
My guess is that the full sun group got too much sun. I'm glad I did this experiment or I would have thought the kale was a fail.
It's so interesting to observe and learn.
In a turn of events, the full sun kale was eaten a few days later by a bandit in the night. It might have been the bunnies again.
And some of the part shade kale was eaten too - by me. Seeing that there were hungry critters around, I had to eat some while I could.
Paired with some cilantro from the Courtyard and an avocado from the neighbor, added to a curry dish.
It was delicious.
