Bath or Beverage or Both
Announcing the newest addition to the Cantina – the Splash 'n Sip Spring!
The Splash 'n Sip Spring is a water-on-tap offering for Cantina customers seeking refreshments, whether for a bath or a beverage.
Dirty 'n thirsty
There are a few reasons for this expansion:
Patrons are served water in their Cantina cups, but those cups don't detach. (Well, the Window Cantina ones do but they are rusty.) Aside from a deep sanitation clean once or twice a week, I like to do a regular tidying of dumping the seed husks and serving fresh seed, but I can't do that without spilling water on the eating area. And as any certified food handler knows, everything must be air-dried. Sometimes, customers don't have time to wait. Therefore, a dedicated drinking area will help with Cantina cleanup.
While customers do have access to a bird bath in the Courtyard, I thought that they would appreciate a washroom close to the dining area.
And the last reason, and kind of a side story, is that I think there are frog eggs in the bird bath. I hadn't cleaned it so that GoldenEye, the Courtyard resident frog, could see his kids metamorphose. This further propelled the idea to have a dedicated bathing spot for the birds. I also made a little pond for GoldenEye and moved a couple of eggs in, but since then I have seen more in the bird bath.

But getting back to the Splash 'n Sip Spring – the customers are loving it!
Hey you guys, check out the new open bar!
Gulp, gulp, gulp
I give it 5 stars on Chirp!
Lia takes a sip
Such a great drink selection!
Here I come to drink the water! Mighty Mouse gets a drink before ordering seed to-go.
And just a few hours before publishing this post, I saw the first bath: Taylor Sparrow enjoying an evening splash.

She hopped all around the rim of the SnS Spring twice, accessing the water, then hopped in.
It has been so cute and fun watching them all find and enjoy the new Cantina addition.
You may be wondering who is in the last picture. That is a new Cantina customer! Stay tuned for the next post to find out who this new patron is!
